Lapland

Each Jet Escapes Lapland trip is completely tailor-made to make the most of your time away and enjoy as many snowy activities as possible. Accommodations are in log cabins and depending on availability range from luxury to more rustic, but all are very comfortable (and warm!).

An example of a 1 night trip is as follows:

Day 1.

Depart from Luton to Kittilä Airport, arriving mid-afternoon. On board enjoy breakfast and a light lunch before arriving mid-afternoon. Your hostess and driver are waiting on arrival to transfer you to your cabin. Enjoy some local snacks and perhaps a glass of champagne before heading out on your first adventure – chasing the Aurora Borealis by reindeer sleigh. Wrapped up in warm blankets on the comfortable sleigh, head out for a private reindeer safari through the beautiful dark forest and (if you are lucky!) you can admire the Auroras and starry sky from the sleigh. After the sleigh ride, enjoy a 3-course dinner in a private cabin at the reindeer farm before being transferred back to your accommodation.

Day 2.

Wake up in Lapland to a lovely breakfast made by your chef in the log cabin. After breakfast, your driver will transfer you to the snowmobiles, from where your journey continues through the snowy landscapes of Levi by snowmobile* to a husky farm. Meet the huskies and learn about their lives and habits. When you are ready, settle down into your sled and your guide will pilot the huskies through the pure white forest and over a frozen lake. If you’re up for a challenge, you can learn to mush the sled yourself. After the exciting ride, enjoy lunch in a traditional arctic tipii.

After lunch, a Sámi woman will come with her reindeers to take you by sleigh to Father Christmas’ home farm. Elf guides will welcome you when you arrive – visit their secret hiding place, hear stories about their lives and drink delicious hot chocolate. Children will experience Elf School! They will learn about the duties of elves and bake ginger bread. And of course, you get to meet the big man himself – have your lists and wishes ready for him! From Santa’s farm, your driver (with your luggage already stored safely) will transfer you back to Kittilä airport for your return flight home.

*Please note that you need to possess a valid driving licence (at least a moped or a car) in order to drive a snowmobile.

We are now able to arrange the trip as a ‘treasure hunt’… the ‘treasure’ being a missing Father Christmas! We can arrange for an Elf to visit you at home, knock on your front door and ask your children for their help in looking for Santa… With your bags packed, the Elf will escort you to the airport where your private jet will be waiting to whisk you off to Lapland to join the search party. An Elf will meet you on arrival with clues to where Father Christmas could be… Spend the day searching the wilderness by husky sled, reindeer sleigh and snowmobile… But will you be able to find him??
